Dear Fellow Horse Enthusiast;

In 1994, my wife came home from her horse club meeting with a video about a breeding program being offered for the first time in the United States.The program provided a rare opportunity to purchase breedings to selected Irish Draught champion stallions.

Like most people, we knew very little about the Irish Draught; but soon learned that the cross between a Thoroughbred and an Irish Draught Sport Horse (RIDSH x TB) produced a horse with tremendous jumping talent, a sensible mind, stamina, and lots of good sound bone. These horses also demonstrated ample dressage abilities. It sounded too good to be true, but when we discovered that such horses as Eagle Lion, Biko, Cruising, Murphy Himself, Custom Made and many, many others have Irish Draught blood in their veins, we decided to participate in this unique breeding program.

We bought a number of breedings and, finally, in 1996, our first colt foal was born. Our initial intent was not to raise a stallion, but a nice event gelding. However, after some consultation on this outstanding colt, we decided to leave him entire and try for an approved rating

In October, 1999, we hauled "Cody" (Dry Creek Macha) from Billings to Dallas, Texas for the third annual North American Irish Draught Assoc. Inspections. We were quite anxious about the inspections because we were aware that no Sport Horse stallion bred in the US had, as yet, passed inspection up to the October 1999 date. However, the Irish judges were impressed with our colt and Cody now has the distinction of being the first Irish Sport Horse bred in the US to be approved for the Sport Horse Stud Registry.

We are about to enter his 11th year and will be standing Cody to a limited number of approved mares for the year 2007. If you have any interest in breeding your mare, consider this unique breed. Please call or e-mail us for more information about the Irish Sport Horse. If you are not interested, please pass our web site address along to someone who may be interested in raising a first rate hunting or event horse. We also have young stock for sale

Sincerely,
Greg Lovegrove
