DRY CREEK MACHA RIDSH1996 Irish Draught Sport Horse Stallion
Bred in Billings, Montana via frozen semen.
If you have a mare that is worth breeding, you'll be in a good place with GREY MACHA RID
The Irish, as do Americans, give significance to horses whose lines go direct to foundation sires. Pride of Shaunlara (636) could be considered a foundation line bred RID. "This stallion has had wide international influence on the modern Irish Draught. Himself a tremendous prize winner, his get are also performers. Jumping ability in the Irish Draught is universal. The ability to breed international success is rarer, but has been achieved often enough to account for the revival of the fortunes of the Irish Draught. (The Irish Draught Horse, Fell, 1991) Through phone calls to Ireland, we know that Pride of Toames is a popular sire and his get are frequently seen in the winner's circle. Likewise for his son, Grey Macha, who was retired to stud after twice winning the Irish Draught Stallion Championship at the Royal Dublin Society horse show. Grey Macha is considered one of the top ten stallions in Ireland and was one of eight stallions selected to give the American public the best possible exposure to Draught breeding. The breeding program, which began in 1994, was conceived by Jim McGinty of Texas and Kevin Culhane of Castleroy, County Limerick, Ireland. The program required the consent of both the governments of Ireland and the U.S. for the importation of frozen semen to the U.S. On the dam's side: Cody's dam is a TB mare out of Port Authority, winner of over $166,000 from 1974 to 1978 before retiring to stud. She is an athletic mare with excellent conformation; short cannons, short backed, very strong in the hindquarters, wide based with a deep girth and good legs. She is very well balanced. She is sensible, uncomplicated and easy to work with and has consistently produced correct, high quality foals. |
